From the people that brought you unembellished English steaks for 30 years, comes its sister outlet, Fosters - an english rose café and restaurant. While restaurants in Singapore come and go, the flagship genteel Fosters with its ode charm has evolved form the Tudor beams at 25 Amber Mansion of old Orchard to the cosy interiors of Specialist Shopping Centre to the elegant basement of Palais Renaissance.
Now situated in Holland Village, Fosters never cease to make eyes gaze at the natural ambience adapted. Their chief cookie, 80-year old chef Wong Loke Thin and son William, serve up their famous grilled English steaks of which their pride is Fillet Fantastique - prime fillet on a bed of fried onions crowned with black field mushrooms and market vegetables.
All the meats are airflown from New Zealand and served with potatoes and garden vegetables.
Of deserving mention are their oven-hot scones served with butter, homemade strawberry preserve, cream, banana walnut cake and finger sandwiches which make up their luxurious Devonshire Cream Tea Set at just $9.00+++ with a cup of coffee or tea.
